My Rant on Indian Media - specifically Godi Media

My take and a quick blog about the Godi Media ..

Title: The Godi Media Phenomenon and its Impact on the Indian Media Landscape

Introduction:

The Indian media landscape has long been a beacon of truth and freedom of speech, dealing with hundreds of millions of consumers across diverse societies. However, in recent years, an alarming trend has emerged in the form of "Godi Media," a term coined to describe certain sections of India's media that are perceived to be strongly biased and favorable towards the ruling government. This article aims to dissect the concept of Godi Media and assess its destructive impact on journalism and democracy in India.

Understanding the Godi Media Concept:

The term "Godi Media" refers to sections within Indian mainstream media that seem to prioritize support for the government over objective journalism. This manifests as news organizations tailoring their narrative, suppressing dissenting voices, and influencing public opinion. Concerns have been raised over how these practices are eroding public trust in media institutions, undermining journalistic integrity, and posing a severe threat to democracy.

Factors contributing to the rise of Godi Media:

1. Political influence: The strong political support provided to certain media houses has created an environment where their allegiance to those in power is prioritized over objective reporting.

2. Financial gains: With advertising revenue playing a crucial role in sustaining media organizations, some feel compelled to appease government officials or other powerful entities. They may rely on sensationalism or backing popular opinions without properly analyzing their merits.

3. The race for TRPs (television rating points): Competing for viewership and higher ratings has led some media outlets to compromise ethics in favor of creating spectacle-driven news content that panders to a particular ideology.

The destructive impact of Godi Media on Indian journalism:

1. Erosion of journalistic values: Biased reporting driven by vested interests erodes essential journalistic values such as fairness, integrity, and objectivity.

2. Spread of misinformation: When partisan news sources dominate the media landscape, they contribute to the spread of misinformation and fake news, with severe repercussions for society.

3. Disempowered public: A biased media weakens the public's ability to make informed decisions, prevents constructive debates, and restricts the growth of a healthy democracy.

Conclusion:

The rise of Godi Media in India is an alarming issue that warrants urgent attention and action. The erosion of journalistic values it brings threatens to dismantle the foundations of a free press. For the nation to thrive as a healthy democracy, there must be a conscious effort by responsible media organizations and consumers alike to prioritize objectivity, unbiased reporting and hold those in power accountable. Only then can India hope to build a strong, vibrant, and reliable media landscape reflecting its diverse, democratic spirit.

Blogging Phase 2

Hi Friends ... It's been a while since I posted here and just happened to remember this blog yesterday when I was talking to a good friend of mine from Goa !! This blog was initially written when I made my second visit to Goa and while talking to him it brought back all my old memories !! And it also made me read my entire blog again  and it was nostalgic .. Now it so happened that I shared my blog with my friend and he kept saying that it was an excellent blog and he was able to connect to it personally and would love to read more from me !! I was quite flattered !! However, I don't think I am that good anyway 😜. But it did pep myself and give me the inspiration to write again. So here it is my return blog and it also made me install the blogger app which is surely gonna help me write whenever and wherever I need to.

So thanks Sheldon for the wonderful comments and this would hopefully be written on a weekly basis or once in a month once for sure !!

Cheers to that and happy blogging to myself 😎

DRINKIN & DRIVING OR RIDIN !!!!!!!

**********I got it in an email...not sure about the Big Bazaar and stuff....but this could surely would let us think about " DRINKIN & DRIVIN OR RIDIN" ************

Hi All !Really heart touching......... I was walking around in a Big Bazar store making shopping, when I saw a Cashier talking to a boy couldn't have been more than 5 or 6 years old.. The Cashier said, 'I'm sorry, but you don't have enough money to buy this doll. Then the little boy turned to me and asked: ''Uncle, are you sure I don't have enough money?'' I counted his cash and replied: ''You know that you don't have enough money to buy the doll, my dear.'' The little boy was still holding the doll in his hand. Finally, I walked toward him and I asked him who he wished to give this doll to. 'It's the doll that my sister loved most and wanted so much . I wanted to Gift her for her BIRTHDAY. I have to give the doll to my mommy so that she can give it to my sister when she goes there.' His eyes were so sad while saying this. 'My Sister has gone to be with God.. Daddy says that Mommy is going to see God very soon too, so I thought that she could take the doll with her to give it to my sister...'' My heart nearly stopped. The little boy looked up at me and said: 'I told daddy to tell mommy not to go yet. I need her to wait until I come back from the mall.' Then he showed me a very nice photo of him where he was laughing. He then told me 'I want mommy to take my picture with her so my sister won't forget me.' 'I love my mommy and I wish she doesn't have to leave me, but daddy says that she has to go to be with my little sister.' Then he looked again at the doll with sad eyes, very quietly.. I quickly reached for my wallet and said to the boy. 'Suppose we check again, just in case you do have enough money for the doll?'' 'OK' he said, 'I hope I do have enough.' I added some of my money to his with out him seeing and we started to count it. There was enough for the doll and even some spare money. The little boy said: 'Thank you God for giving me enough money!' Then he looked at me and added, 'I asked last night before I went to sleep for God to make sure I had enough money to buy this doll, so that mommy could give It to my sister. He heard me!'' 'I also wanted to have enough money to buy a white rose for my mommy, but I didn't dare to ask God for too much. But He gave me enough to buy the doll and a white rose. My mommy loves white roses.' I finished my shopping in a totally different state from when I started. I couldn't get the little boy out of my mind. Then I remembered a local news paper article two days ago, which mentioned a drunk man in a truck, who hit a car occupied by a young woman and a little girl. The little girl died right away, and the mother was left in a critical state. The family had to decide whether to pull the plug on the life-sustaining machine, because the young woman would not be able to recover from the coma. Was this the family of the little boy? Two days after this encounter with the little boy, I read in the news paper that the young woman had passed away.. I couldn't stop myself as I bought a bunch of white roses and I went to the funeral home where the body of the young woman was exposed for people to see and make last wishes before her burial. She was there, in her coffin, holding a beautiful white rose in her hand with the photo of the little boy and the doll placed over her chest. I left the place, teary-eyed, feeling that my life had been changed for ever... The love that the little boy had for his mother and his sister is still, to this day, hard to imagine. And in a fraction of a second, a drunk driver had taken all this away from him. Please DO NOT DRINK & DRIVE

KASAB – DEATH or LIFE IMPRISONMENT!!!

This is one of the few things which I really wanted to write from a very long time. Its surely gonna be a controversial one too. It's been quite a long time now since the horrific days of the 2008 Mumbai Attack. People have suffered enough and are back to their daily lives with memories of the dreadful past. However, there is one dreadful thing which we can't leave behind and there needs to be an end to this one for sure. And that's the one and only Mohammed Ajmal Amīr Kasāb.

Yes Ajmal Kasab as we all know, the person who terrorized Mumbai along with the counterparts Pakistan from 26th Nov killing more than 100 people and bringing our entire nation under threat. The rest of the people have been killed and he was the lone survivor of the incident. He was arrested and produced before the court and it's been ages since this drama has been unfolding in front of the entire world.

He was captured on the CCTV and the entire world had seen him on TV. But still they would say that there is no evidence to prosecute him and still the case went on for such a long time with Kasab initially agreeing to everything which he did to our country and then denying his involvement in the entire thing. Again this drama went for a pretty long time and finally a few days back everything has almost come down to a final showdown.

But will Kasab Die????? Will he be hanged???Will we all be able to witness what we all have been waiting to see for such a long time?

Been hoping that the same thing happens...he gets hanged as soon as possible..cos I am sure there is gonna be some human rights activist or some government interference.. which might happen and they would end up giving him life imprisonment and let him go after a few yrs down the lane......this is one reason why India really needs to change....He went around like a maniac killing hundreds of people and we in return end up forgiving him for messing up our country......

There is blood of many brave Indians who have given up their lives and also fought hard to bring back the honor and dignity of our country during those tough times. I just wished instead of arresting him and going through all this process of courts, trials, judges, lawyers and spending so much money on him. It would have been much better if any one of your soldiers would have just used a couple of bullets and taken his life at that instant. These people deserve much worse but at least this could have been the least we could give them for bringing such havoc and pain to our country.

I hope and pray that our judgment system will change sometime soon and we the people are there to bring about this change and not just let any person come and take us and our judicial system for granted.

Just felt I needed to write this down sometime and nothing could be better than writing it in my own blog.

Feedbacks and Replies are welcome.

New Life....A New Beginning !!!!!!!!

Welcome 2010......Guess 2009 wasn't really a year where i wrote much....cos its been a real long time since I wrote anything in my blog and I finally felt let me start over again.....

And here in 2010 I am back and back with a bang....planning to continue this habit in a daily or weekly basis from today. Had logged in a few weeks back and thought will start off blogging again, but then again there was a tug of war between the 'yes' and 'no' and finally 'no' had the final say :).

But today was different, 'Yes' finally influenced me to such a extent tat I finally gave it a shot.....

Now gettin back to my life.....Lots & lots of changes in my life has happened within the last 2 yrs. But 1 thing which hasnt changed is the trip to Goa, though we have tried to explore a couple of different places than the usual stay :).

Let me start off with my Career, its been on a positive and learning trend from the time I had moved into Fidelity Investments. And it just has got better, first of all moving into IT environment and the moving into teams which helped me become a technology person and improve my knowledge and gain expertise over this domain.

Now, next I am looking into gaining more exposure and try and develop my skills more and move into the phase of my career which should help me through my entire life.

Now with regards to my personal life, have gone through a roller coaster ride too. Life has to be with challenges, only then there would be some fun living it. Orelse it would become monotonous. So I have had my share of ups and downs but not without the expereince of learning new lessons about life.

During these days again one thing which remained my constant source of energy and fun was my friends...and I really dont think I would be ever able to say this with the same excitement without those wonderful people n my life. My life revolves around my friends....rather say it exists because of them.. Live will never be the same if they weren't there with me and I owe my a lot to them...which would even include money ;)...hehehehe......................

Anyways I cant leave the most important people in my life and bcos of whom I am in the world today....my parents ...I am here bcos of them and will live always for them too...all my life...................

Guess I was a lil too serious and dont really feel like myself...so I guess this would be rather enough to restart my blogging off in style.....

Hope you all liked it.........n if you did'nt I really don't care about it...cos its tough for ppl not to like my blog :D....he he he he.....

Anyways keep a track guys..this blog's gonna continue.....

Drunken Riding or Over-Confidence !!!!!!!

On 16th of Feb, Would also term it as an Historic Day in my Life......Let me explain why ?? ...Early in the morning I was boasting to my Cousin and his Roomie about my riding skills....and the main highlight was I had never met with an accident when i was drunk or otherwise too...And while being drunk, I would reach home the fastest.....could be in less than 15 mins from M.G Road....Listening to tis, my cousin and roomie told, be careful dude...ride slow..and as always, i told them..dont worry I will Ride slow........That afternoon my Best Pal(Anoop) calls me up and told we will meet at Stones(Pub) in Indiranagar,as he was meeting a few collegeues there. Had some work to finish and by 5, I was in Stones...Had around 4 -5 mugs of beer and then planned to leave home, but then our bestfriend(Joseph) calls in telling us that......he's on his way and he wants us join him for another drink......

...First of all...I hadnt slept the whole day,as I had to go with my Uncle and Aunt for their New Flat registration and didnt want to skip meeting my friends too...So I was on this Beer Quest without a single min of sleep... And if u ppl are wondering..wat difference does it make if he didnt sleep during the day..answer is I work at night and sleep thru the day....and that given day I came back home only by 5am from work.......................

.So then ...finally we left to Garuda Mall to meet Joseph....and we parked our Bikes in Indiranagar and went there on Sreeraj's Car( another friend of us)....Once we reached there, i was kind of swaying...as was sleepy and a lil high on 5 Mugs of beer.....(And u ppl might be surprised...how is that I am high on beer.....nor do I....off late...I dont get high on Hard Liquor..but Beer's got a very Bad Effect ;).........Now Since Joseph wanted to drink....we ended up in BULL & BUSH for a few more rounds of beer....During the drink...Joseph wanted me and Anoop to come down to his place...as he had got a new Home Theatre system and he wanted us to have a look at it, Though we all stayed all 3 diff corners of Blore...we finally managed to cnvince our parents to spend the night at Jospeh's place....Finally all Happy and High on Beer...we planned to head to our Pitstop(Joseph's Home)....Since my Bike was in Indiranagar, Anoop accompanied me to pick it up.....We were again dropped by Sreeraj at Stones....After seeing off Sreeraj...
I just started my Bike..and took the very first turn at a speed of not more than 30-40kmph and there my bike skids off ,as there a lot of Mud on the road........I am lying flat on the ground with bike over me, and my pal..made a clean escape...as he jumped off.....
......Someone helped me stand up and anoop moved the bike towards the pavement..and the first thing i ask him is.."Is My Bike Alright" ???

However I am still trying to figure it out......Was it me Drunk which caused the accident or was it my Over-Confidence...........

Anyways Who Cares !!!!!!!! CHEERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Delayed but yet continued..Goa Trip !!!!

31st Dec 2007..........
So...after a few hrs of sleep, we woke up at around 11...if u can call it a few hrs :D....then we had a quick shower and then started off on my yatra vahaan..with ur faithful driver....Rocky...we headed straight to Mapusa town, then decided we will go to Baga..and landed up in Baga around 1p.m...then we finally settled down at a shack called louis shack....ordered lots of stuff to eat,as we were all dead hungry....munched on everything possible..from steaks..to manchurians'...Fried rice..and then sat down with a few beer cans..thats when one of our pals..strips all of a sudden and rushes to the beach....we were shocked for a while..wats he doin..rather he told us..chill bro..its Goa and runs away....and the dude was none other than Joseph...if u ppl dont know..he's got this habit of stripping at beaches...and it evn happened on our very first trip from college too :D.....then after a few beers..even me,rocky and kamal also set off on the stripping spree and went into the beach...by around 6pm, we all headed back to joseph's cousins place, as u know it was 31st Evening and it was ne yr eve...so we had to head somewhere for the night :)....finally went home..had a shower again and then headed back to Baga beach again...and it took nearly an hr to reach Baga...as majority of the crowd was on the way to Baga......for New yr eve....Finally we planned to settle down in the same shack(louis shack), but the crowd and the atmosphere didnt impress us much...and we finally walked around for a while..looking at lots of dance parties happening and finally camped base at Britto's Shack on Baga Beach......it was a peaceful place...with some light music..pretty nice crowd and nice service.....all of us started off drinking..however i was blown even before new yr eve,and finally enjoyed a few thumbs up...while my partners started off with VAT69, BlackDog and Royal Challenge....finally at the stroke of 12...the lights went off..and it was raining crackers every where..enjoyed the fireworks for a while and then we started drinking again..and this time, i was back to normal and had a few drinks too. Then finally around 3am in the morning,we headed back to our scorpio and headed back home, on the way..we even found a place to rest ourselves for the rest of the trip...Went back to Joseph's cousins place and then again had a round of Boom and a few beers and there, and then there started iff the heroics of rocky and Naveen...who culdnt stop laughing after having boom...me and kamal were wondering..wat in the world was happening,as boom didnt have any effect on us....and if u all are wondering wat we mean by boom....Boom means..Grass...still u havent got it....it means dope....(Would also like to quote this saying which i found on a lot of t-shirts in Goa...it read...." God made grass, Man made Booze, whom would you trust" :D....wat say ppl ????.....anyways finally i was dead tired and sleepy too and fell off to sleep by 5:30 in the morning.

1st Jan 2008( New Yr & a New Beginning)
It was 1st and it was a Monday morning, woke up as usual around 11am to 12noon, had a slight breakfast and then packed our bags and headed to the place close to Baga beach, where we planned to spend the rest of our Goa Trip. The place " CastaDeGoa". It was a place managed by an ex-army Lt.Dennis, we reached there around 2pm. Unpacked our stuff, ordered food from a resturant which was next to the place where we stayed and then since we all were still tired, we went off to sleep. Woke up by 6pm, all of us had our showers again and then we went to pick up Booze...went down to Baga(calangute city) and then picked up 2 bottles of RC, 1 bottle of 100 pipers and a few breezers and beer . Then we headed back to our rooms and ordered food as usual from the place next door and sat down to drink....finished 1 bottle of RC and 1 bottle of 100 pipers and then had a session of boom again...finished our dinner and went off to sleep by 3 in the morning. So on 1st we didnt nothin much...but just relaxed after a tiring 31st ;)........wasnt it peaceful !!!!!!!!

2nd Jan 2008 (Trip continues...along with the fun):
As usual, routine.......we woke up at 11 and then were planning to go out somewhere....but as always rocky would keep telling 2 mins..2mins and would take an entire day to get ready and Naveen...as lazy as always...didnt want to go out anywhere.....finally me and kamal had taken enough and we left taking our cam..to the beach....we walked the entire stretch of beach from Baga till Calangute and took a lot of pics of babes and ourselves...and also happened to watch an interestin thing..on the beach....and felt good looking at it too....now this is the scene....A foreigner walks into the beach and around 6-8 guys pounce on her like hungry wolves.....and the best part is...the guys on the beaches..who normallly rent our moto scooters and do para sailing...saw this incident and chased those guys down and gave them a beating..which they would remember, whenever they went next to a grl....and we pretty happy to see this, as all ladies would have a sense of security when they got into beaches or walking around....!!! Finally after a lng stroll, we headed back to our rooms and as i was telling...rocky was still on his 2 mins and wasnt ready yet....Finally after a lot of sweraing and scolding, Naveen and rocky got ready....we had lunch at a place close by...and as always...we were feasting on pork, beef, chicken steaks.....all kinds of diff dishes and then headed back to our rooms....Then we finally put on some comfortable clothing and headed to the beach......again...and this time around as soon as we reached the beach, got a bed on the beach and then finally all decided to try the water-scooter's......Rocky & Naveen werent keen on riding them...so me and Kamal...took their share of fun...and had a fun filled and exciting ride on the waterscooter....then played in the beach for a long while..longing at the diff ppl and also the babes....Finally settled down on the shores...sipping on beer and muching on some amazing steaks....While we were doing this, we saw a few ppl selling a lighted catapult...which had a small light on it and once sent in the air, would come back to us...as a boomerang....brought of couple of them and we started playing with them on the beach like small kids....finally around 9pm,we headed bck to our hotel, showers again..and got back to eating again...which we all loved doing.....and along with the dinner..we started drinking and a final round of boom....for the trip.....and to top it off...we had nice music playing from a restuarant close by....where there was live music.....and finally as always..we went off to sleep by 2-3am in the morning. So again..we didnt do anything much, but we relaxing the whole day...and i think we came to Goa to do the same..dont u think :) !!!!!!!!!!

3rd Jan 2008(The day we finally saw places and shopped) :
I guess i dont have to tell again..u guys would know, when we woke up...heheh :D.......So we woke up...got dressed and finally headed to Anjuna Beach and then got a lot of junk jewellery for all our sis and cousin's back home...and we planned to get a temp tattoo done, but the guy was charging a lot, so we decided we would do it someplace else. Then we headed to another beach close by..clicked a few pics and then got a lot of fancy earrings for our sisters again...and then headed to a place close by to Fort Aguda........ and this time around, it was for Booze.....and u wouldnt believe the amount of booze we got from Goa.....let me explain......here goes the count......25 bottles of wine....3 champagene bottles....3 cocktail bottles.....6 bottles of VAT69....2 bottles of Antiquity....a few packets of wine...1 DSP Black......and a couple of bottles of Fenni.....and didnt cost us much either...close to 10 grants ...hehehe :)...After this small purchase of our;s we headed back to our room....had dinner and planned to sleep early.....as we planned to leave by 3am in the morning from Goa....but we guys sleep early...Nahhh....so we all slept by 1..and woke up by 3...and finally got ourselves of the bed...yawning and cribbing for waking up so early...as always...had to pull rocky off the bed and his 2 mins continued............

4th Jan 2008( Fun's over..Heading back home)
Finally got dressed and packed all luggages and headed from Goa.....reached karnataka checkpost...and there was our karnataka cops..luckily he didnt check our baggages..as we had license for the liquor bottles..he asked 300 bucks..and kamal....being a smart dude..rolled 200 bucks and gave it to him..and without even checking...he kept the money in his pocket....so we fooled him off 100 bucks..happily set foot back in karnataka...and return journey wasnt that exciting as we all were tired....but rocky was steady as always...and rode us very safely.....between we stopped for bfast at a roadside...resturant...and then for lunch again at a roadside....restuarant......had a few rotis....and bendi fry and dal.....and finally by around 3 to 4pm we reached my place...unloaded all our stuff and seperated all stuffs...which we had bought..and then headed back to home sweet home...And here ends an amazing...and wonderful trip to Second heaven ....or rather a place called GOA(Eternal Bliss) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
